PMCT has an important role in providing orientation, education, supervision and pastoral support for IMGs who make up a large proportion of junior doctors at the NWAHS.
Both hospitals at the NWAHS, the North West Regional Hospital and the Mersey Community Hospital are vibrant international communities and include doctors at all levels with rich and varied cultural backgrounds. For new arrivals this can make the transition process easier.
The NWAHS employs a Multi-cultural Liaison Officer (MLO) who is available to work with staff and families as required. Information on the Multicultural Liaison Officer (MLO) (PDF, 50Kb)
The NWAHS has a defined IMG Orientation Process and Self-directed Checklist which must be completed within 3 months of employment to meet the nationally prescribed IMG Orientation requirements. PMCT also provides AMC Exam preparation support and is linked with the CIMG video-conferenced program.
