The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is a 360 bed regional hospital providing most specialties. As an accredited teaching hospital in partnership with the Launceston Clinical School of Medicine, and University of Tasmania a supportive environment and active teaching and learning culture is valued and promoted.
Medical Education and JMO Support
The Medical Education Advisor (MEA) supports both medical school and intern and resident learning programs enhancing the transition from undergraduate to graduate. With PMCT support the MEA promotes educational activities for doctors of all levels encouraging them to be more effective teachers, supervisors and mentors. Regular assessment and feedback are also provided.
The MEA and Director of Clinical Training, (DCT) together with a Clinical Medical Educator arrange a variety of weekly tutorial experiences pertinent to the ongoing training of junior doctors using the Australian Curriculum Framework. More information about the tutorials can be found on this THS intranet link. This site can only be accessed by THS staff.
The Resident Pocketbook is a quick ready reference to assist you in your daily activities at LGH, particularly for after hours and ward calls. Contact the Medical Education Unit for a copy of the pocketbook.
